‘Home’ Captures the Inner Lives of Gay Men
The year 2016 saw many tragedies that hit the LGBTQ community, and one still shakes up the gay world and that is the shootings in Orlando. That events shows that the LGBTQ community continues to need a safe place where they can be themselves and express themselves in an area that is going to be nonviolent.
This idea of the community needing a safe place is why Home was created. The photographs in the book showcase the interior lives of young gay men.
Matt Lambert the creator of the book put his models in warmly lit bedrooms scenes. He did that to show that LGBTQ youth are forced to create their own idea of home since their traditional homes are unsafe or nonexistent.
