In the Beginning there was Camming…
Believe it or not there was a time when the Internet was used for only emails and data collecting…then the webcam was invented. Students at Cambridge University used the first webcam in 1991 by the computer science department students to monitor their coffee pot.

This actually predates the Internet by a few years; as soon as the World Wide Web was born the technology was integrated right away. You could still access the webcam feed until 2001 but the only thing you would see is the last picture it ever took. The coffeepot was auctioned off for 5000$ to a German company, refurbished and put back to work making coffee.
After this came Jennycam, in 1996 a college student named Jennifer Ringley used webcams to broadcast her everyday life. Before that there were only static images broadcast on the Internet, she was the first one to expose herself fully. She didn’t edit a thing, she was nude, masturbated, studied, slept, cooked, etc…in essence lived. She shut her site down Dec 31. 2003, citing PayPal’s new anti-nudity policy. She now lives cam and social media free and she is enjoying the feeling having been “naked” for the whole world for 7 years.
In 1997 CAM4 launched this site to provide free, easy to use webcam software for amateurs, exhibitionists, swingers, and voyeurs. The whole concept was that it was a place to meet friends, have sexual experiences, find love, and in some cases marry the other members of the CAM4 community.
This was a totally free site where you could easily broadcast at the press of a button to over 230 countries with 50 million viewers a day and translated in 42 languages. CAM4 has a history and reputation for having some of the most interesting Internet personalities to ever broadcast online. I would be doing you a disservice not sharing the legendary broadcasts of ‘Sweet Eva’. She was a middle-aged woman who spoke English, Dutch, and Japanese from her time in the Navy and is a self proclaimed freemason and Satanist. Her and her husband Mike suffered from severe substance abuse and it seemed that mike was more interested in filming her then her state of well being. This CAM4 duo came onto the scene in 2008 and had a cult like following, her fans ordered 70$ worth of pizza to her house one time because she was off cam for sometime and they got worried they had either overdosed or killed each other. Other times her fans called the cops to their house to break up domestic disturbances or to help Eva after she fell over and got a very serious head wound, and a serious concussion. Rather than take Eva to the hospital, Mike let her stay on cam while he drank beer and watched the situations go from bad to worse.
She was a true Internet Personality bearing it all to her fans, to this day there are websites and blogs and twitter accounts dedicated to finding her and her glorious return to cam.
